The ICA is seeking a freelance graphic designer to provide creative design services to the ICA’s Communications and Marketing department. The freelancer will work in a fast-paced environment working on multiple print and digital design projects, serving numerous internal clients within the organization including and not limited to Marketing, Events, Development, Curatorial, Performance, Education, Retail, and the Director’s Office. The Designer will conceive and produce designs in alignment with ICA brand guidelines. The Principal Designer will be the point of contact to guide the scope of services.
The contract will run through June 30, 2025, with the possibility for extension.
Scope of Work:
- Design a variety of promotional and interpretive materials including print and digital advertisements, signage, merchandise, animations, web graphics, and e-communications within the ICA brand parameters
- Apply ICA brand consistently and creatively in terms of type, layout, and style across all creative executions
- Create assets to be used in conjunction with existing materials
- In partnership and communication with the Principal Designer and the Marketing Department, ensure [assigned] assets are appropriate for the brand identity and ICA audiences
Qualified Candidates Must Possess:
- MFA in Graphic design or BFA with commensurate experience
- Experience working within established brand guidelines; ability to edit and adapt brand elements as needed.
- Sound knowledge of executing designs within an online environment (HTML, CSS)
- Proficiency in the full range of Adobe Creative Suite Products
- Strong knowledge of design trends in the contemporary art and cultural fields
- Stellar typography skills
- Organized with excellent attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
- Possess mobility to work in an office setting and use office equipment; move about throughout the museum, occasional travel offsite to different ICA locations
- Ability to see, listen, and talk for extended periods in person, over the telephone and computer, and understand printed materials
- Prolonged periods of remaining stationary working on a computer, standing, and/or moving about the office and museum.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling, keyboarding and gripping
Performance Period and Availability:
The Freelance Graphic Designer Contract opportunity commences in January 2025 and ends on June 30, 2025, with a possibility of extension. The scope of work and hours required varies from week to week with an estimate of up to 15 hours per week.
Compensation:
Hourly rate based on internal budget and commensurate with experience
