Named for the first director of the ICA, the James Sachs Plaut Society recognizes those who have made an enduring commitment to the ICA: through a planned gift, a gift of art, or by maintaining a membership for 25 years. There are no additional costs or dues.
Society members are invited to ICA Exhibition Openings, The Annual James Sachs Plaut Legacy Luncheon, and are listed in the ICA Annual Report.
The James Sachs Plaut Society is chaired by Trustee and friend of the ICA, Paul Buttenwieser.
Three ways to join the James Sachs Plaut Society:
Legacy Giving
Legacy gifts, such as a bequest or charitable gift annuity, are an opportunity to consider charitable giving over time and provide a reliable source of funding for the ICA. Including the ICA in your estate plans is one of the most powerful ways to ensure that the museum will continue to thrive for generations to come. Planned gifts can be personalized and embody your own legacy through the institution that you love.
A bequest made under one’s will is often the simplest way to make a meaningful gift to the ICA. You may write a new will or simply add a codicil to your existing will. Bequests come in any form—cash, securities, and other personal property. Your charitable bequest is 100% tax deductible for estate tax purposes.
If you are interested in learning more about planned giving or bequest language, or if you have already included the ICA in your estate plans, please contact the Development Office at 617-478-3183 or jspsociety@icaboston.org. For details and more information about the different types of planned gifts you can make to the ICA – please visit our Ways to Give page.
The ICA recommends that you discuss your gift plans with your legal and financial advisors. Members of the ICA Staff are happy to work with you and your advisors to ensure that your gift achieves your goals and meets the ICA’s needs.
Gifts of Art
A gift of art is one of the most powerful ways to build the ICA Collection and is an important resource for contemporary culture in Boston. Established in 2006, the ICA Collection represents diverse artistic backgrounds and perspectives and showcases some of the most influential and exciting artists working today. The ICA Curatorial Team works closely with people interested in making a gift of art to the ICA.
For more information about making a gift of art, please contact the Development Office at 617-478-3183 or jspsociety@icaboston.org.
25+ Years of ICA Membership
The ICA relies on a community of loyal, long-term, and dedicated members. The incredible impact of this commitment is evidenced by the sustaining support that enables the museum to present the exhibitions on view, performances staged, and in the ICA’s robust educational programs for students, scholars, teens, families, and adults.
The ICA annually reviews membership records to identify those who have been members for 25 consecutive years, at which point the ICA will reach out to welcome these members to the James Sachs Plaut Society.
Be a part of it!
Consider sharing the exciting news of your long-term commitment — planned gift, gift of art, or a 25+ year sustained membership with the ICA! By letting us know of your intentions now, you’ll allow the museum to celebrate your generosity during your lifetime. We’d love to recognize you in the James Sachs Plaut Society!
