Charles Atlas is a pioneer in film and video who shaped how dance performances could be further experienced. Decades before the proliferation of social media, Atlas’s radical focus on capturing dance staged for his camera brought dance directly to big and small screens, including public television. Charles Atlas: About Time at the ICA demonstrates that Atlas is more than a filmmaker but a visionary interdisciplinary artist whose contributions in art and culture have been influentially profound. In this conversation moderated by Mannion Family Curator Jeffrey De Blois, hear from Atlas about his creative practice over the last five decades.
