Revel in the elements in our last outdoor First Fridays of the season. Wear your atmospheric ensemble (reds, blues, or earth tones encouraged) for a night of art, drinks, live music from Mint Green, waterfront views, and (ba-dee-ya) dancing in September with DJs Towfu and Mozes. Plus, create your own wind catcher and very down-to-earth pet rock.

First Fridays: Bold with Boudoir in partnership with

  • Visual installations by Pat Falco, William Chambers, Matthew Zaremba + Samo

DJ Gucci Vuitton, aka Oliver Mak, co-founder of the legendary Boston retailer Bodega, and Pico Picante’s Riobamba, known for urbano soundscapes, sound system anthems, and rave disorder “souped up with a twisted, industrial gnarl” (Complex Magazine), will run the turntables. PLUS experience Pat Falco’s electronics trash yard, William Chambers’s mobile embroidery unit, and collaborative visuals from illustrator Matthew Zaremba and new-media digital artist Sam Okerstrom-Lang, or Samo.

Culture Club is a two-part outdoor audio/visual installation series. Vinyl-based DJ sets pair with otherworldly visual installations by Boston–area artists for energetic and exploratory nights on the harbor.

Music provided by local lady hotshots DJ Dayglow and Dee Diggs. PLUS, on the visual side, experience Jesse Kaminsky’s immersive, transformative environments, Kenji Nakayama’s lauded sign-making skills, and a “cuddle zone” created by visual artist J.R. Uretsky, featuring trained therapy dogs. Uretsky has teamed up with Dog B.O.N.E.S. Therapy Dogs of Massachusetts to bring nine dogs to the event, offering care and emotional support in a museum party environment. The piece was created in conjunction with her new video Stag which will be projected on the side of the Museum.

Visual installations by Furen Dai, Derek Hoffend, and Julia Emiliani

Artist Furen Dai  presents a large-scale installation using mylar balloons and handmade lanterns to address the immigrant experience in Boston and modern-day censorship in China. Derek Hoffend explores sound as a medium intersecting with physical forms, bodies, light, and spaces to create an immersive and participatory experience. Acclaimed local illustrator Julia Emiliani adds playful animations. Featuring a live performance by Roxbury-based Vintage Lee, a “rising rap force to be reckoned with.” (FACT magazine)

DJ sets by East Meets Beats (Rilla Force, DCHA + Ra Lo)
Visual installations by Sabato Visconti, Rudolf Lingens, and the Safarani Sisters

Brazilian multimedia artist Sabato Visconti experiments with glitch processes to create a highly unique interactive video booth experience. In the ICA Common Room, Rudolf Lingens brings us an uncanny sculptural installation with interactive role-play. And Iranian identical twins the Safarani Sisters will debut a durational live performance installation on the Harborwalk. DJ lineup curated by East Meets Beats, an electronic music showcase dedicated to cultivating the community of underground producers, DJs, and musicians in Boston and beyond.
