Bill T. Jones (pictured) — dancer, choreographer, and cofounder of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company — was in Boston over the weekend for the US premiere of his latest work, “A Letter to My Nephew,” at the Institute of Contemporary Art. The politically and socially charged piece, depicting both violent street battles in America and immigrants trying to reach freedom in Europe, was performed by company dancers, accompanied by music from composer Nick Hallett, baritone Matthew Gamble, and DJ Tony Monkey. The three weekend performances were all preceded by talks with Jones and Janet Wong, associate artistic director of New York Live Arts, who did video design for Jones’s work.
