On the occasion of the ICA’s commission of the U.S. Pavilion at the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, the ICA partnered with Spelman College and the Atlanta University Center Art History + Curatorial Studies Collective on a year-long undergraduate seminar to immerse students in the art and ideas of Simone Leigh. The seminar, entitled “Simone Leigh, Art & Theory,” was taught by Dr. julia elizabeth neal and Dr. Cheryl Finley. Seven of the eleven students recorded audio responses to artworks of their choosing.
