Since 2016, artist Evelyn Rydz has invited more than 250 women to partake in shared communal meals through her community engagement project Comida Casera, Spanish for “homemade food” or “food from home.” Participants share a meal and a memory of a woman the food reminds them of, expanding notions of home.
In summer 2019, visitors to the ICA Watershed heard stories recorded at past Comida Casera and enjoy activities on food, home, and community cohosted with Kannan Thiruvengadam of Eastie Farm.
