Kids rule the ICA the last Saturday of every month, when the museum fills up with fun, creative, and even zany activities for kids and adults to do together.

In the Galleries

ICA galleries are open from 10 AM–5 PM. Our family-friendly Visitor Assistants are always eager to talk about the artworks and answer your questions.

Picture book readings that make connections to artworks led by gallery staff. Book selections inspired by the exhibition When Home Won’t Let You Stay: Migration through Contemporary Art. Best for ages 3-7 and adults together.

Our art-making investigations are developed for all ages of children and adults to work together. All activities are drop-in, first come, first served, and space is limited.

Barbara Lee Family Foundation Theater
In a collaboration with Mass Poetry, poet Jamele Adams who will lead a workshop and performance inspired by home. The workshop will engage participants in freedom of creative expression through the artistic vehicle of poetry. Write, share, and build community!

Stitched Stories, 10:30 AM–12:30 PM + 1–4 PM
Bank of America Art Lab, 1st Floor
Create a personal pennant that represents you and your family. Use glue or sewing techniques to tell your stories through fabric. Be inspired by the many stories represented in When Home Won’t Let You Stay: Migration through Contemporary Art and share your own.

Veronica Robles Cultural Center, located in East Boston, celebrates the arts and cultures of Latin America. Believing in the power of the arts for social change, they strive to promote feelings of home and community through art and tradition. This interactive dance performances includes traditional dances from Mexico, Colombia, and Peru. Appropriate for all ages!

Note: Timed tickets are required to enter Yayoi Kusama: LOVE IS CALLING. Tickets are free, and a limited number will be available to Play Date families in person the day of, first come, first served. We recommend arriving early.
