Directed and choreographed by Boston-and-Chicago-based artist Jessi Stegall, The Theremin Vignettes is an ode to the late theremin virtuoso Clara Rockmore. Set to Rockmore’s arrangements of classical scores for theremin, the dance-theatre piece explores themes of grief, remembrance, and devotion found throughout Rockmore’s life. Set in the form of choreographic vignettes made up of solos, duets, trios, and quartets with a cast of 11 dancers, the movement style blends ballet, contemporary, gesture, and spoken word.
